I produce and host the show “Can't Think Straight” for AppTV at Appalachian State University. Can’t Think Straight is an informative talk show following current events from a queer perspective. I have produced four seasons of Can't Think Straight with five episodes per season.
AWN is Appalachian State University's main source for news in the High Country. I am the technical director for this program. I also create packages and edit content for the show. I have been working with AWN for two seasons.
I currently participate in freelance and volunteer EMCEE work. Having worked a few of the annual Fiddlers Convention in Boone, as well as hosted various events with the App Speaks. The video linked is an event I hosted in 2022.
I produced the show “Religion in Life” with AppTV. This show explores religion and spirituality in the High Country. Ozzie Ostwalt, a religion professor here at App State, hosts this program and is a phenomenal interviewer. I have produced four seasons with ten episodes per season.
I had the opportunity to present a TedTalk like presentation on the Benefits saying gay will have on the LGBTQ+ community.
I won this award in October of 2023 issued by the College Media Association for creating a promotional video for AppTV. Click the action button below to see the video.
AWN was awarded third place from the Associated Collegiate Press in house Best of Show Award's in November of 2023.
AppTV was one of BEA's signature stations for the year. My station was issued this award in April of 2023.
As Station Manager of AppTV, Appalachian State University's TV station, I am expected to oversee everyday operations, keep constant communication with my staff of fifteen while overseeing the production of about ten different shows that broadcast on YouTube and cable. Skills required for this position include: flexibility, problem solving, scheduling and have fluency in adobe applications and broadcast equipment. Lastly, this position requires that I communicate with faculty and App State staff on a regular basis in a professional manner.
As an openly gay woman working in a male dominated field I make sure to take advantage of any and every opportunity that will help better myself in my career. I am a very confident, detail oriented and outgoing person. I do not shy away from conflict and take pride in my work. If you're looking for a leader you have come to the right place.
